Novak Djokovic admitted he is “not at that level” following a decisive loss to Carlos Alcaraz in the men’s singles Wimbledon final.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion appeared almost overwhelmed as Alcaraz secured a 6-2 6-2 7-6 (7-4) victory—marking his second consecutive win over Djokovic at the SW19 event.

This result further signifies a shift in men’s tennis dynamics.

Alcaraz, 21, and Jannik Sinner, 22, have both triumphed in all three Grand Slam tournaments this year.

“Both of them are by far the best this year; I feel like I’m not at their level,” remarked Djokovic, who has won 24 Grand Slam titles.

“To have a real opportunity to potentially defeat them in the latter stages of Grand Slams or the Olympics, I need to perform much better today and feel significantly better than I did.”

Still searching for a title this year, Djokovic is experiencing his poorest season start since 2006.

The 37-year-old was clearly outmatched by Alcaraz in the final, as the young Spaniard showcased exquisite drop shots, powerful serves, and explosive forehand winners.

“Overall, how I felt on the court today against him, I was inferior,” Djokovic expressed during his news conference.

“That’s the truth. He was the superior player, executing each shot better than I could.”
