The Trump campaign is reiterating the former president’s trust in his running mate, JD Vance, while addressing criticisms surrounding Vance’s previous remarks about women. Chris LaCivita, co-campaign manager and GOP strategist, reassured listeners on “The Brian Kilmeade Show” Friday that the campaign is advocating for “working women” and described Vance as a “perfect representation” of their goals.

TRUMP SAYS HE SHARED ‘AUTOMATIC CHEMISTRY’ WITH VANCE DESPITE PAST CRITICISMS: ‘HE DIDN’T KNOW ME’

CHRIS LACIVITA: There are countless interpretations. The reality is it has been taken completely out of context. In fact, there was a discussion today regarding the follow-up attack from the Democrats, claiming that JD Vance believes only parents should receive specific tax breaks. That’s known as the child care tax credit. So now, we have the Democratic Party and the Kamala Harris campaign on record opposing something that has been law for years, which is the child care tax credit. We anticipate this kind of backlash… Actresses like Jennifer Aniston have made similar attacks. We’re focusing on advocating for the working women of the United States—those in the middle class who feel overlooked. JD Vance embodies that mission perfectly. They know this, and it terrifies them. They will resort to falsehoods, and we will handle it as we move forward.

BRIAN KILMEADE: As a campaign, are you opposing childless women?

CHRIS LACIVITA: No. That’s completely ridiculous. We are very confident in our choice. JD is the best pick. The president values him, and we consider him a vital member of our team. We will continue our efforts alongside him to make America great again. He plays a major role in this campaign, and we are excited to have him.

Former President Trump stated he experienced “automatic chemistry” with his running mate during a Fox News interview on Monday.

Trump dismissed their past differences as mere misunderstandings, noting that Vance has become one of his strongest supporters. “Initially, JD wasn’t really on my side, but he didn’t know me,” Trump explained in the “Jesse Watters Primetime” interview. “Once we became acquainted, he possibly liked me more than anyone else.”

The former president added, “He stands up for me. He fights for workers just as passionately as I do. We share an automatic chemistry.”

Vance was initially critical of Trump during the 2016 campaign when Trump was running against Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.

At that time, Vance had described Trump as “cultural heroin” leading the disenfranchised working class into a “very dark place.”
