With the Opening Ceremony in Paris now completed, focus shifts to the athletes vying for medals, including swimming icon Ariarne Titmus and world champion canoeist Jessica Fox.
Several Australians will compete on Saturday, marking the official start of the competition.
Here are our homegrown talents chasing their sporting ambitions on the biggest stage, all times AEST:

Swimming, starting at 7pm
Emma McKeon is expected to shine in the Women’s 100m Butterfly heats alongside Alexandria Perkins, while Ariarne Titmus prepares for the Women’s 400m Freestyle heats with Jamie Perkins.
In the Men’s 100m Breaststroke heats, keep an eye on Sam Williamson and Josh Yong, while Elijah Winnington and Sam Short will compete in the Men’s 400m Freestyle heats.
Additional events in the water include the Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay and Men’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay featuring Australia.
Basketball, 7pm
The in-form Boomers will face Spain in Group A action.
After claiming bronze in Tokyo three years ago and recently challenging Team USA in a practice match, Coach Brian Goorjian’s team will be confident of securing another medal.

Tennis, 8pm
At Roland Garros, the venue of the French Open, Aussie Matthew Ebden faces the daunting challenge of competing against Novak Djokovic in the first round.
Should Ebden manage to upset the Serbian, he might face Spanish tennis great Rafael Nadal in the next round on clay.
In doubles, Ellen Perez and Daria Saville will have a challenging opener against American duo Coco Gauff and Jess Pegula.
Hockey, 9.15pm
In Men’s Pool B, the Kookaburras take on Argentina. After narrowly missing out on gold in Tokyo, losing to Belgium in a penalty shootout, they’re eager to start their Paris campaign strong.
