Vice President Kamala Harris has reversed her position on banning fracking, as stated by her campaign on Friday, according to a report.
Prior to ending her presidential campaign in 2019 and joining President Biden’s team, she declared during a CNN town hall, “There’s no question I’m in favor of banning fracking.”
“And starting with what we can do on day one around public lands, right?” she added. “Then there has to be legislation, but, yes, that’s something I’ve taken on in California. I have a history of working on this issue, and to your point, we must acknowledge that the residual impact of fracking is enormous regarding the health and safety of communities.”
As a senator in 2019, Harris also cosponsored the Green New Deal, which advocates for addressing climate change and includes a fracking ban.
TRUMP QUICKLY MOVES TO DEFINE HARRIS AS ‘MORE LEFT THAN BERNIE SANDERS’

“Climate change is real, and it poses an existential threat to us as human beings, and it is within our power to take action,” Harris stated on the campaign trail before exiting the race, as reported by The New York Times. “I am in support of the Green New Deal.”
However, Biden’s campaign and his administration have not endorsed a ban on fracking, even though Biden initially claimed during a primary debate, “We would make sure it’s eliminated.” His campaign later clarified that he “supports eliminating subsidies for coal and gas and deploying carbon capture.”
Since Biden announced his exit from the race and endorsed Harris last Sunday, she has moderated several of her previously progressive stances from her 2019 campaign.
Trump quickly labeled her a “radical liberal” since she became the presumptive nominee for the Democrats.
At a rally in Charlotte on Wednesday, the former president stated that Harris is the “most incompetent and far-left vice president in American history.”
Trump accused her of being “the ultra-liberal driving force behind every single Biden catastrophe” and labeled her as a “radical left lunatic” who would harm the country if given the opportunity.

He further claimed, “She wants no fracking. You’re going to be paying a lot of money. You’re going to be paying so much that you’ll wish to ‘bring back Trump.’”
Harris’s campaign responded to Trump’s accusations about her stance on fracking, stating, “Trump’s false claims about fracking bans are a blatant attempt to distract from his own plans to enrich oil and gas executives at the cost of the middle class.” They continued, “The Biden-Harris Administration passed the largest climate change legislation in history, and under their leadership, America has achieved the highest domestic energy production ever.” The spokesperson concluded via email, “This Administration created 300,000 energy jobs, while under Trump, nearly a million jobs were lost and his Project 2025 would reverse the significant progress made in the past four years.”

In a statement to Fox News Digital, National Republican Congressional Committee spokesperson Mike Marinella remarked, “Kamala Harris is the most far-left progressive presidential nominee in history, and extreme Democrats in the Rust Belt are fully aligned with her policies.”
He continued, “A fracking ban would be catastrophic for workers and families, and the extreme Democrats’ push to see Biden replaced by radical Kamala Harris reveals just how disconnected they are from their constituents.”
