First Lady Jill Biden offered glowing remarks about the opening ceremony at the Paris Olympics this past weekend, even though it faced considerable backlash for seemingly ridiculing the Last Supper.
Leading the U.S. delegation, Biden described the opening ceremony as “extraordinary.” Despite the celebratory atmosphere, athletes from around the world faced heavy rainfall as they made their way along the Seine River on boats.
Biden noted that the United States would need to put in significant effort to surpass the impressive opening ceremony when hosting the games in Los Angeles in 2028.
“Last night was nothing short of spectacular,” Biden expressed in a statement. “The rain didn’t dampen our enthusiasm…. All along, I found myself thinking, oh my gosh, how are we going to top this?”
