American swimmers Katie Grimes and Emma Weyant secured silver and bronze medals in the 400-meter individual medley final at the Paris Olympics on Monday evening.
Canadian swimming sensation Summer McIntosh dominated the competition, clinching the first gold medal of her career in this event with a time of 4:27.71.

Grimes recorded a time of 4:33.40, while Weyant finished in 4:34.93.
This marked Grimes’ first Olympic medal. She debuted with the U.S. Olympic team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when she was just 15 years old, placing fourth in the 800-meter freestyle, earning her the title of future star in the sport from teammate Katie Ledecky.
Weyant secured a silver medal in the same event last year, finishing behind Japan’s Yu Ohashi and ahead of teammate Hali Flickinger.

Two additional medals were secured by American athletes on the same day, with skateboarders Jagger Eaton and Nyjah Huston and the men’s gymnastics team all achieving podium finishes in their respective events.
The U.S. women’s swimming team was expected to earn numerous medals throughout the Paris Games.
Prominent swimmers like Ledecky, Torri Huske, Kate Douglass, Gretchen Walsh, and Simone Manuel have all made their mark during the Olympics in women’s events.
