A speaker at a Zoom meeting aimed at garnering support for Vice President Kamala Harris among White women became an internet sensation for her condescending tone, admonishing listeners never to “correct” women of different races.

The “White Women: Answer The Call” Zoom meeting drew in 164,000 White women last week, setting a new record for the largest Zoom call. This extensive online gathering to support Harris included celebrity guests like U.S. Women’s Soccer star Megan Rapinoe, musician Pink, and actress Connie Britton, the latter humorously referring to it as “Karens for Kamala.” This event was inspired by a prior Zoom call focused on Black women organized by the activist group “Win With Black Women” the previous week.

Arielle Fodor, a former teacher turned TikTok creator with over 1.3 million followers, gained viral fame during this Zoom meeting. On TikTok, she is known as Mrs. Frazzled, where she utilizes a “teacher voice” to address issues like “mansplaining.”

Introduced as someone who could help “gentle parent” attendees through the upcoming 2024 election, Fodor stated, “BIPOC women have brought us in as White women to step up, listen, and engage in this election season. This moment is crucial, and we all must use our voices and influence for positive change. Regardless of who you are, you are all influencers in your own right.”

She further shared some “dos and don’ts for engaging in politics online and dealing with the accompanying toxicity.”

Fodor cautioned her fellow White women, “Some of that toxicity can stem from us as well.”

“Don’t make it solely about yourself. As White women, we must leverage our privilege to instigate positive change,” she advised. “If you catch yourself talking over or speaking for BIPOC individuals or, heaven forbid, correcting them, pause and instead put on your listening ears.”

She motivated attendees to “Learn from and elevate the voices of those who have been historically marginalized, and utilize your privilege to advocate for systemic transformation. As White individuals, we have much to learn and unlearn. Be sure to examine your blind spots. Your social media algorithms are your responsibility. Actively search for and share the work of BIPOC creators, activists, and thought leaders. They should guide discussions concerning race, injustice, and equity.”

Her comments circulated widely on X, where conservatives criticized Fodor’s manner of speaking as patronizing and awkward.

“This is cringe at another level,” said X owner Elon Musk about her tone.

Fodor later posted the full text of her speech on her TikTok page, referring to it as “the speech that sparked a million haters.” In her speech, she urged the audience to engage with Trump supporters in their circles because “you are all influencers.”

“Being an ally requires embracing discomfort, and no one feels more discomfort than when conversing with their prejudiced family members,” she stated with a smile.

Fodor has not responded to requests for comment.
