Donna Kelce, mother of Super Bowl champions Travis and Jason, shared a pointed critique on the Paris Olympics opening ceremony controversy on Monday.
The ceremony faced backlash for its perceived mockery of “The Last Supper,” a significant moment in Christianity. Supporters of the segment argued it was intended to evoke the feast of Dionysus.

Kelce’s repost emphasized the importance of education and cautioned against “mindlessly sharing posts.”
“This is what occurs when books are banned and education is restricted,” the shared Facebook post stated. “The Olympic Opening Ceremony didn’t mock the Last Supper. A basic understanding of the Greek origins of the Olympics and France’s rich theatrical history would clarify this. However, due to your hidden homophobia, some of you fail to recognize factual details.”

The performance featured drag queens, a transgender model, and a nude singer portraying Dionysus, drawing criticism from athletes and leaders in American Christian communities.
Paris 2024 spokesperson Anne Descamps addressed the issue on Sunday.

“There was no intent to disrespect any religious group. (The opening ceremony) aimed to celebrate community tolerance,” Descamps expressed to the media, according to Reuters.
