Ron DeSantis, the Governor of Florida, has enacted the death warrant in a long-standing kidnapping and murder case involving two siblings.
Loran Kenstley Cole, aged 57, has been sentenced to death following his conviction for the murder of John Edwards, an 18-year-old student at FSU, back in 1994.

Additionally, Cole was found guilty of kidnapping and raping Edwards’ 21-year-old sister on that same night in the Ocala National Forest.

“Attached is the death warrant I signed to enact the sentence for Loran Kenstley Cole, along with certified documents of his judgment and sentence,” stated DeSantis.

The governor further mentioned, “I understand that the date and time of execution have been set for Thursday, August 29 at 6:00 p.m.”

The upcoming execution marks the first in Florida since last August when Governor DeSantis signed the death warrant for Michael Duane Zack, 54, who was convicted of murdering two women in 1996.
