ICE previously indicated that one of the men was apprehended near San Ysidro, California, in April after entering the country illegally, while the other had overstayed his student visa. Despite their release, ICE confirmed that both individuals remain subject to removal proceedings.
The incident occurred on May 3 at the Quantico Marine Corps Base in Virginia. A spokesperson for the base stated that two individuals in a box truck were intercepted at a gate.

The driver reportedly told military police that they were delivering to the post office and were employed by a company that is subcontracted by Amazon.
“At that moment, one of the military police officers observed the driver ignoring direct instructions from officers and continued to move the vehicle past the holding area, attempting to access Marine Corps Base Quantico,” stated spokesperson Capt. Michael Curtis. Following their arrest for trespassing, officials transferred them to ICE.

This incident is one of several involving illegal immigrants as the ongoing crisis at the southern border continues to dominate political discourse. Some Republican leaders have connected the Quantico event to the policies of the Biden administration.
The administration countered that Republicans are obstructing reforms and funding necessary to address the significant crisis, while Republicans argue that the administration has undone successful policies from the Trump era, exacerbating the situation.
