Due to insufficient wind, the men’s skiff final at the 2024 Paris Olympics was called off on Thursday.
Officials determined that there was not enough wind to finish the race, which had already started, according to Reuters.
In the 10-boat race, which offered double points, Spain initially took the lead with Diego Botin and Florian Trittel at the helm. However, their favorable winds diminished, causing them to lose their advantage during the second leg of the race.

This led officials to cancel the event.
According to the Daily Mail, BBC commentators remarked they had “never witnessed anything like it.”

Spain held the lowest score at the time of abandonment, but in sailing, this is how winners are determined.
Currently, there is no information on when the men’s skiff final will be rescheduled.

Until a new date is announced, the women’s skiff final, which was to follow the men’s race, has also been postponed.
Details for timing of that event have not yet been provided.
The Daily Mail noted that race officials are exploring whether a different area of the bay at Marseille Marina can provide the necessary wind for a race restart.
