Spanish second seed Carlos Alcaraz decisively defeated Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets to advance to the Olympic men’s singles final.

The four-time Grand Slam winner Alcaraz secured a commanding 6-1 6-1 victory over the 13th seed Auger-Aliassime at Roland Garros, marking his entry into his third major final in just two months.

At 21, Alcaraz previously claimed the French Open in June at the same Paris venue, followed by a triumphant performance at Wimbledon last month.

He will compete against either Serbia’s Novak Djokovic or Italian Lorenzo Musetti in the final on Sunday, with their semi-final scheduled for 18:00 BST on Friday.

Top seed Djokovic, who has won 24 Grand Slam titles, is on the hunt for his first Olympic gold medal and the only major title that has thus far eluded him.

Should the 37-year-old prevail over 11th seed Musetti, it would set the stage for a rematch of last month’s Wimbledon final, which Alcaraz won in straight sets.
