Former President Trump announced on Friday evening that he has accepted Fox News’ invitation to participate in a debate against Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump stated that the debate is set to take place on September 4 in Pennsylvania, though the exact venue has yet to be finalized.
The former president also mentioned that a previously organized debate with President Biden, who had suspended his re-election campaign, was canceled. This cancellation was attributed to his ongoing lawsuit against ABC News and one of its hosts, George Stephanopoulos.
“I have agreed with Fox News to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th,” Trump shared on his Truth Social platform. “The debate was initially scheduled with Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been canceled since Biden will no longer participate, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, which creates a conflict of interest.”

The debate will be moderated by Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.
The debate format will resemble the rules set for the June 27 CNN debate against Biden, who Trump mentioned “has been treated horribly by his Party.” However, unlike the CNN debate, which featured no audience, the Fox News debate plans to include spectators.
Fox News had previously proposed a debate between Trump and Harris in Pennsylvania on September 17.
Harris expressed last month that she was “ready” to engage in a debate with the former president and accused him of backtracking from an earlier agreement to debate on ABC News on September 10.
This development follows Harris’s nomination as the Democratic Party’s candidate for president after Biden decided to withdraw from his re-election campaign.
Initially, Trump had stated he wouldn’t debate Harris because she was not the official candidate after Biden’s exit. However, Friday marked the day Harris secured enough delegates to officially become the party nominee.

“As everyone is aware, the Democrats have unconstitutionally replaced a candidate who was acknowledged as defeated with a new one,” Trump wrote. “This has never happened before and poses a threat to democracy; however, I am fully prepared to accept the results of this ‘coup’ and replace Joe with Crazy Kamala Harris on the debate stage.”
“I have invested hundreds of millions of dollars, time, and effort fighting Joe, and when I won the debate, they introduced a new candidate. It’s not fair, but it is what it is!” he added. “Nonetheless, whether the candidate is different or not, their poor policies remain the same, and this will be clearly demonstrated in the September 4th Debate. I am eager to meet and debate Kamala Harris on September 4th. This date is both convenient and fitting, as it is just before the early voting for the 2024 Presidential Election begins on September 6. I look forward to seeing everyone in the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania!”
Trump also survived an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on July 13.
