Simone Biles further solidified her legacy in gymnastics after dominating the sport for eight years.

Biles concluded the Paris Olympics with a silver medal in the floor exercise and might have secured gold if not for a minor misstep. A fall on the balance beam caused her to miss a podium finish and ultimately impacted her score.

Regardless, Biles’ remarkable performance at the Summer Games concluded with a total of four medals. She secured gold in the team final, the all-around, and vault events, showcasing a different Biles compared to the one seen at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

“I couldn’t be prouder of my achievements,” Biles stated. “At 27, I’m walking away from these Games with four additional medals for my collection. I’m not upset about it.”

Initially, Biles worried many when she tweaked her calf during warmups. However, she persevered, participating in every event essential for her team.

Leading the team of Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, and Hezly Rivera, Biles helped secure a gold medal in the team event with a score of 171.296, almost six points ahead of Italy.

In the all-around event, Biles scored a 59.131, earning her the victory over Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade and teammate Lee.

Next came gold in the vault, marking her second victory in this event. Her score of 15.300 was sufficient to outscore Andrade and Carey.

Although the balance beam didn’t go as hoped, she excelled on the floor, finishing in second place with Chiles close behind.

Biles has amassed 11 Olympic medals, the highest number for any American gymnast in Olympic history. She’s tied for second all-time with Věra Čáslavská from the former Czechoslovakia, trailing by seven medals behind the former Soviet Union’s Larisa Latynina.

“I’ve achieved far beyond what I expected,” Biles reflected. “A few years ago, I didn’t envision returning to this level.”
