Robertson is the nephew of former Cardiff player Gavin Rae, who played for the club for four years from 2007 to 2011.

As a child, Robertson used to don the Bluebirds’ kit and shared with the club’s website: “He (Rae) has shared many positive insights about both the city and the club.

“Looking ahead in my career, this feels like the perfect environment for me. I’m really excited. It’s been a few weeks in the making, and I’m thrilled it’s finally come together.

“The city has assembled a fantastic squad for the upcoming season, and I am eager to contribute to that. The manager discussed his style of play and his expectations for us as players.

“I believe I can gain valuable experience from him and the more experienced members of the squad. I’m prepared to hit the ground running. I’ve grown stronger over the past few months.”

Cardiff manager Erol Bulut expressed: “We’re thrilled to have Alex on board.

“There were six other clubs interested in him, which speaks to his talent. We had a meeting ten days ago where we laid out our ambitions for the club and for Alex. Our aspirations and plans aligned perfectly.

“Alex brings a lot to the table. He possesses quality, is technically skilled, and works hard—he’ll enhance what we already have. We now boast a wonderful blend of youth and experience in the midfield.”
