Prior to Vice President Harris’ rally in Philadelphia alongside her newly announced running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn., on Tuesday, locals expressed their frustrations regarding the state of the American economy.
FOX Business’ Jeff Flock engaged with several Philadelphia residents about their experiences with the economy under President Biden and Harris, especially following a significant drop in the stock market.
“It’s always enlightening to chat with real people,” Flock remarked while sharing his insights on Fox News Channel’s “America Reports.” “What they’re communicating is that, for them, the economy is, to put it mildly, quite disappointing. And I apologize for the language, but that’s actually a direct quote from one of the individuals we interviewed.”

Fox News spoke with various Philadelphia residents regarding the current economic situation.
“This is a stronghold for Democrats, mind you,” he added. “Philadelphia County overwhelmingly supported Biden with 85% of the vote four years ago, only 15% for Trump. Yet, the residents we interviewed—both Democrats and Republicans—revealed that the economy isn’t benefiting them.”
“Honestly, I feel that the economy is struggling right now,” one resident shared with Flock on camera. “Salaries are lower while expenses are rising. Bills are increasing, rents are climbing. It’s pretty grim.”
“I juggle three jobs just to make ends meet,” another woman commented. “Despite having a master’s degree from Columbia, life is quite challenging financially.”
A man added, “Everyone seems worried about the economic state, and I certainly share that concern.”

One resident remarked to Fox News, “I personally feel like the economy is struggling at the moment.”
“The current administration has really messed things up,” another man expressed. “I earn six figures annually, yet living in the city is still unaffordable. I can’t even enjoy going out like we used to.”
When Flock inquired about her future expectations, one woman responded, “Well, depending on how the election turns out, I might feel hopeful, or I could end up moving to Ireland.”
Flock mentioned to Fox News host Sandra Smith that he couldn’t determine which candidate’s win would lead that particular woman to leave.
“It’s worth noting that even among those who voiced strong criticism about the economy, many said, ‘I’m still going to vote for Vice President Harris.’ They find it difficult to support the alternative in this Democratic stronghold. It’s perhaps a troubling and paradoxical situation,” he concluded.
