Following her divorce from Ryan Hurd, Maren Morris has developed her own dating principles.
Morris and Hurd concluded their divorce in January, utilizing a property settlement and prenuptial agreement to manage their assets. The mother to one remains open to dating but views her upcoming relationship with a fresh outlook.
“I believe that investing myself entirely into another person is likely not the healthiest approach. It tends to shift expectations and entitlements significantly,” Morris shared with People magazine. “I must focus 100% on myself, and anyone who enters my life must be incredibly impressive to add value to it because — and I don’t wish to come off as arrogant — I am genuinely happy with the life I’ve built.”
“I cherish my career, my child, my home, and my friends,” she continued. “These elements are all important to me and they are self-created. I will only welcome someone into my life if they enhance those aspects. They cannot be a liability. They cannot drain my resources, and I mean this in every aspect — financially, emotionally, spiritually. You need to have your life in order to be part of my life at this juncture.”

The “80s Mercedes” artist does not feel pressured regarding dating.
“I don’t conceal any aspect of myself. As a public figure, I feel it’s impossible to do so, hence everything is transparent, but I must also safeguard my heart,” Morris revealed to the outlet. “There’s less pressure now to create sparks. I’m simply enjoying the experience of dating for the first time.”
“Nothing overly exciting has occurred yet. It’s mostly been the realization that, ‘Okay, I can still engage with this,’ and meeting new people and connecting through dialogue,” she confessed. “That can be harder than you’d expect.”

Morris filed for divorce on October 2, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The country music star stated that the “parties cannot live together successfully as husband and wife due to irreconcilable differences,” according to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital.
In her filing, Morris sought joint custody of their son with Hurd, which was granted by the court in January.
They have a three-year-old son named Hayes.

Morris and Hurd first crossed paths in 2013 while collaborating on “Last Turn Home” for Tim McGraw. However, their romantic relationship did not blossom until 2015.
“We had been friends for a couple of years, but there had always been a unique writing chemistry between us. Eventually, it became clear that the timing was right,” she previously told People magazine. “Having built such a solid foundation over the years with our songwriting, we thought, ‘Why are we avoiding this?'”
Hurd also contributed to several of Morris’s projects, such as “Hero,” “Girl,” and “Humble Quest.”
