Former First Lady Michelle Obama applauded American gymnasts Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles for their display of sportsmanship towards Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade.
Biles and Chiles secured silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the floor exercise at the Paris Olympics, where Andrade claimed gold. The two gymnasts honored Andrade by bowing to her on the podium, exemplifying the Olympic spirit.

While Baltimore Ravens star Marlon Humphrey criticized the moment as “literally disgusting” in a post on X, Obama expressed nothing but admiration for the gymnasts.
“I’m still moved by this beautiful moment of sisterhood and sportsmanship! The love radiating from these ladies is palpable. Congratulations to Rebeca, Jordan, and Simone!” Obama commented.
After overcoming three ACL surgeries, Andrade achieved the gold medal, which explains Biles and Chiles’ admiration for her.

“It’s all about sportsmanship; winning or losing doesn’t matter. We’ve always got to put on a good face and support our competitors who have trained as hard as we have for that moment,” Biles expressed on NBC’s “Today” on Tuesday.
“They deserve recognition, and that’s exactly what Jordan and I were doing. We were genuinely thrilled for her. She earned it with the best floor routine that day and of the Olympics. So, she absolutely deserved it.”
Humphrey’s opinion was not warmly received online.
“I’m a bit embarrassed right now. It seems I’m getting a backlash from Brazilian fans on Instagram lol,” he later posted on X.
