Blood began to flow heavily from the 27-year-old’s face, leaving her motionless on the ground as teammates and medical personnel rushed to assist her.
TV coverage by Eurosport refrained from showing the injured Burg, highlighting the injury’s severity.
Medical staff applied bandages to her nose to control the bleeding, and play was halted for over five minutes.
Ultimately, Burg was able to stand up and, with the help of four medical staff members, walked off the field.
However, the game did not resume immediately as crew worked to clear the blood on the pitch.
‘They need to control the bleeding,’ remarked the worried commentary team on Eurosport. ‘There’s quite a bit of blood there.’

In remarkable scenes, the courageous 27-year-old rejoined the match after being treated on the sidelines, but she had to switch to a fresh jersey since her original one was stained with blood.
The replacement jersey lacked a number on the back, prompting quick-thinking Dutch officials to create a makeshift number using tape for her to be recognized by the referee.
The Netherlands continued to battle for their teammate, ultimately securing a 3-0 victory in Paris.
The dominant Dutch squad is set to face either Belgium or China in the gold medal match, marking their sixth consecutive appearance in the final.
