Carlos and Alexa PenaVega faced challenges when it came to Alexa filming romantic scenes as the “Spy Kids” star.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Alexa shared that early in her marriage, Carlos experienced jealousy over her filming those scenes. However, as their spiritual connection deepened, their relationship became more balanced.
“Years ago, Carlos felt a bit jealous, but as we grew closer to God and became more confident and comfortable, our dynamics started to shift with the roles we took on,” Alexa explained.

Carlos explained that due to their collaboration with the organization, he feels reassured about the scenes Alexa is working on, whether he is on set or not, stating they are “safe.”
“That’s what I appreciate about Great American Family,” he noted. “Even if she’s not filming with me, I trust that whatever she is doing is safe and positive. This truly feels like home for us.”
“Years ago, Carlos experienced some jealousy, but the more confidence we gained, and the closer we became to God, the less we felt threatened by others.”
In their upcoming film, which has not yet been titled, Alexa and Carlos will portray romantic partners. When asked if filming these scenes feels awkward, both Alexa and Carlos said it does not.
“This particular movie is quite special since we had the chance to produce it ourselves. It’s our production company, and this is the first project we’ve fully produced together from start to finish,” Carlos expressed.

“We currently find ourselves in a balanced position. We value faith-based films highly, but we believe that films meant for broader audiences are equally important, especially if created by people with a heart aligned to the kingdom. We don’t just want to create Christian films,” Alexa stated.
“Our goal is to make films with profound meaning that leave viewers feeling good, often without them knowing exactly why. That ‘why’ is rooted in the authenticity the film represents, highlighting real-world issues,” she elaborated. “Christian films often risk being perceived as cheesy or formulaic, while the reality of Christian life is often challenging.”
“Life can be complicated, but we want to demonstrate that there is hope,” Carlos concluded.

“I can’t fathom how anyone manages without God, as our experience felt like this supernatural peace that defied explanation,” Alexa said. “It truly does not make sense and is beyond comprehension. Following the ordeal, we were devastated and heartbroken, yet we sensed God reassuring us, ‘I’m so sorry you had to endure this, but I am with you, and I will pave the way for you.’
