Steve Martin has no intention of impersonating Kamala Harris’ running mate, Governor Tim Walz, on “Saturday Night Live,” regardless of fan requests.

Following Harris’ announcement about selecting Minnesota Governor Walz as her running mate, Martin discussed receiving a call from “SNL” producer Lorne Michaels to appear on the iconic show in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

“I wanted to say no, and by the way, he wanted me to say no,” Martin said about his conversation with Michaels.

“I said, ‘Lorne, I’m not an impressionist. You need someone who can really nail the guy.’ I was chosen because I have gray hair and glasses,” he continued.

The actor remarked that a commitment to depict Walz on “SNL” would be “ongoing,” which doesn’t fit in with his current plans.

“Again, they need a real impressionist to do that. They’re going to find somebody really, really good. I’d be struggling.”

“It’s ongoing. It’s not like you do it once and receive applause and then never return,” Martin explained. “Again, they need a real impressionist for that. They’re going to find someone exceptionally talented. I’d be struggling.”

After Harris announced Walz as her running mate, Martin took to Threads, sparking speculation about his potential appearance on “SNL” with Maya Rudolph.

“I just learned that Tim Walz wants to hit the road with Marty Short,” Martin posted.

In his post, Martin referenced his “Only Murders in the Building” co-star Martin Short, leading fans to comment on the physical resemblances between Martin and Walz.

“Regarding Senator Harris, I didn’t have an impression because I wasn’t walking around the house doing my ‘Kamala.’ But I think it begins with trying to capture someone’s voice if possible,” Rudolph noted at the time. “There’s nothing outrageously overt about Sen. Harris, but I have to tell you, once I got to [SNL] and they put the wig on me, it was complete.”
