Raphael Varane has officially joined Serie A club Como following his departure from Manchester United this summer.
The 2018 World Cup champion ended his contract with Old Trafford on June 30 after the Red Devils chose not to activate an extension.
Varane’s exit is part of a broader overhaul at Manchester United this summer, with co-owners Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS restructuring the club and signing new players Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee for a combined £88.5 million to date.
The French defender joins Como shortly after former Arsenal, Chelsea, and Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas was appointed as the team’s new manager following their return to the Italian top division last season.
Como earned promotion back to Serie A after more than 20 years away, securing an automatic spot on the final day of the season.
