ATLANTA, GA – On Tuesday evening, Vice President Kamala Harris will headline a rally in Georgia’s capital, attracting the largest crowd for the Democratic Party’s national ticket this election cycle.
Prior to her arrival in Atlanta, the Georgia State Convocation Center, which has a capacity of 8,000 for concerts, was filling with enthusiastic supporters.
This event marks a resurgence of energy within the party, just nine days after President Biden’s significant announcement about suspending his re-election campaign against former President Trump while endorsing Harris as his successor.

Biden’s prompt endorsement of Harris sparked a wave of support for her from various Democratic governors, senators, and party leaders. Within just 36 hours, she secured her party’s nomination with the verbal backing of a majority of the nearly 4,000 convention delegates.

“Freedom is on the ballot this November. That is why I will be in Atlanta tonight with @theestallion to discuss the stakes of this election,” the vice president shared on social media while en route to Atlanta.
Rapper Megan Thee Stallion is expected to perform at the rally, which has garnered nearly 20,000 RSVPs prior to the event.

Harris’s visit is a crucial test of the Democrats’ grassroots momentum in this vital southeastern battleground state, where Biden narrowly won against Trump four years ago.
Historically a Republican stronghold, Georgia has recently become highly competitive in presidential, Senate, and gubernatorial races, largely driven by the increasing influence of Black and Latino voters, who are essential to the Democratic base in the state.
HOW LONG WILL THE HARRIS ‘HONEYMOON’ IN THE POLLS LAST?
However, Biden’s poor performance against Trump during a late June debate in Atlanta raised concerns about his ability to serve another four years in office.
This prompted a growing number of calls within his party for the 81-year-old president to withdraw from his campaign for a second term.
In fact, Trump’s lead over Biden in key battleground states, including Georgia, has increased in public opinion polls following the debate.
The former president is determined to reclaim Georgia in the upcoming November elections.

Just hours before Harris’s arrival, the Trump campaign announced that Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, will hold another rally on Saturday at the Georgia State Convocation Center—the same venue Harris will be visiting.

Trump is likely to draw a large crowd, as he has consistently attracted significant numbers to his rallies since the launch of his 2024 campaign over a year and a half ago.
In preparation for the Atlanta rally, the Harris campaign emphasized their extensive on-the-ground strategy in contrast to Trump’s efforts in key swing states.
Battleground states director Dan Kanninen pointed out that the Harris campaign operates 24 coordinated offices in Georgia, while Trump only opened his first office in June.
“This ground advantage will likely be crucial in an election expected to be determined by just a handful of votes,” Kanninen stated.
Before the rally, the vice president planned to meet with local abortion rights activists, highlighting this issue as central to her White House campaign.
The campaign indicated that during her speech, Harris will “prioritize the needs of middle-class families,” addressing inflation and the persistent high prices of essential goods for many families, along with her strategies for reducing costs.
Furthermore, the campaign noted that Harris will “also discuss the current state of the race, affirming her underdog status while emphasizing her real momentum and grassroots support, and she is anticipated to call out Trump for failing to honor his debate commitments.”
