Presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. shared an unusual video on X this past Sunday, during which he recounts to comedian Roseanne Barr an anecdote about disposing of a deceased bear cub in Central Park roughly ten years ago.
In the footage, RFK and Barr are seated at a dinner table in a home as the independent candidate narrates his tale. He mentions that he is attempting to get ahead of a story being developed by The New Yorker.
RFK explains that he had been leading a falconry group in Goshen, New York, which is about a two-hour drive north of New York City.
He recounts how, en route, a woman driving a van ahead of him struck and killed a young bear.

“So, I pulled over and picked up the bear and put him in the back of my van because I was going to skin the bear… and store the meat in my refrigerator,” RFK explains, while a visibly stunned Barr listens intently. He points out that this activity is permitted under certain regulations in New York State.

RFK continues his falconing adventure with his companions and ended up staying out late. Rather than heading home, RFK states he had a dinner obligation in NYC.
He then admits, without going into detail, that after dinner he had to go to the airport and couldn’t return home.
“I didn’t want to leave the bear in my car because that would have been problematic,” RFK explains.
He remembers that at that time in 2014, there had been “a series of bicycle accidents,” some resulting in fatalities.

RFK tells Barr he had an old bicycle in his vehicle and decided to place the bear in Central Park to “give the impression it was struck by a bike.”
“Everyone agreed, ‘That’s a fantastic idea.’ So, we went ahead and did it,” RFK states, clarifying that he hadn’t been drinking, unlike his friends. “And we thought it would entertain whoever found it.”
RFK, JR. SPEAKS OUT AFTER SHOOTING AT TRUMP RALLY
The prank evidently received attention the following day. According to RFK, “it was featured on every television station. It was the front-page news in every paper.”

“I turned on the TV to find a mile of yellow tape and 20 police cars. There were helicopters flying overhead. I was like, ‘Oh my God. What have I done?'” RFK narrates, adding that his fingerprints “were all over that bike.”
“Fortunately, the story faded after a while and remained buried for a decade,” RFK comments.
The presidential contender informs Barr that The New Yorker has “somehow become aware” of the event and is preparing to publish an article about it.
“It’s probably going to be a negative piece,” RFK says in the video, prompting laughter from Barr and others present.
