Mark Cuban, a minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks, has consistently expressed opposition to former President Trump.
Cuban has endorsed Trump’s previous rivals, including Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, as well as Kamala Harris, who is Trump’s opponent in the 2024 election, while dishing out insults toward Trump dating back to 2016.
However, Cuban’s stance on Trump hasn’t always been negative.

Cuban revealed that he backed Trump when he first announced his presidential bid in 2015. He shared his thoughts about his initial support for Trump during a recent interview with Vivek Ramaswamy on X.
“Back in 2015, I thought, ‘He’s fantastic. He’s not your ordinary candidate. That seemed like a good thing,” Cuban stated.
He mentioned that one reason for his early support was not believing Trump had a real shot at winning the presidency, aiming instead to make a statement regarding the political landscape in America.

“I didn’t think he could actually win. I just wanted to disrupt traditional politics, which I don’t support,” Cuban explained.
In fact, Cuban was so impressed with Trump in 2015 that he considered joining Trump’s ticket for the 2016 election during a July 2015 interview with Business Insider. Earlier that month, Cuban praised Trump’s non-traditional background on his own “Cyberdust” social media platform.

“His actual positions don’t matter to me,” Cuban stated on his app. “I value his unfiltered responses over carefully crafted ones—a rare quality in candidates today.”

However, opinions have shifted. As the 2016 election progressed, Cuban recanted his endorsement and has since criticized Trump vehemently.
During his interview with Ramaswamy, Cuban pointed to Trump’s ethical conduct as a reason for his opposition since 2016.
“He was unethical back then, and he’s still unethical now,” Cuban expressed.
Cuban highlighted Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election results as a prime example of his alleged ethical shortcomings.

“He urged Mike Pence not to confirm the election results,” Cuban said, alluding to Trump. “He has defrauded more hardworking Americans than any other president.”
Earlier this year, when Biden was the presumptive Democratic candidate, Cuban boldly stated he would vote for Biden over Trump, even in the most dire circumstances for Biden.
“Even if Biden was at his last rites, I would still choose him over Trump,” Cuban remarked during an interview with Bloomberg News in March.
