• Wilfried Zaha departed Crystal Palace as a free agent last year, heading to Turkey.
  • His salary could be a potential issue, but Palace are eager to re-sign him.
  • The Premier League is reportedly a probable destination for the 31-year-old.

Crystal Palace is keen to facilitate a thrilling return for Wilfried Zaha, as Galatasaray is willing to let him go this summer, per reports.

Zaha moved to Turkey as a free agent last summer, but his current club has agreed to allow him to explore other options just a year later.

With the Premier League viewed as a potential landing spot, Zaha could make an unexpected return to Palace, marking his third stint with the Eagles.

The Telegraph suggests that a loan arrangement might be feasible, although his substantial salary could be a barrier for interested clubs. Galatasaray is reportedly asking for around £9 million to partially offset Zaha’s wages.

Nevertheless, his established record in top-flight football and performance stats from his time in England have made him a compelling target, and Palace is among the clubs ready to make a move.

Now 31, Zaha participated in 42 matches across all competitions last season but saw his role diminish towards the end as he transitioned to an impact substitute.

He logged 30 appearances in the league alongside nine in both the Champions League and Europa League. Notably, Zaha scored against Manchester United, his former club, during Galatasaray’s stunning triumph at Old Trafford in October.

Palace chairman Steve Parish still holds Zaha in high esteem, and club director of football Dougie Freedman is also a follower of the player’s talent.

Zaha made his debut for Palace at just 17 years old in March 2010, before transferring to Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson’s final signing in January 2013.

Unfortunately, under Ferguson’s successor David Moyes, Zaha had limited opportunities, appearing in only four matches.

He rejoined Palace the following summer, initially on loan for the season and then permanently in January 2015, where he stayed for another eight and a half years.

Palace continues to be proactive in the transfer market, and a surprise move for Zaha could represent an economical addition to bolster Oliver Glasner’s squad.

Several of their key young players have attracted attention ahead of the new season, with star Michael Olise transferring to Bayern Munich for £52 million.

Marc Guehi is drawing interest from Newcastle, and talented winger Eberechi Eze is sought after by competitors.
