On their wedding day, Prince William and Kate Middleton had a delightful surprise that remains a hot topic.
The couple tied the knot in 2011, and their wedding was one of the most viewed royal ceremonies ever. However, once the public cameras were off, the newlyweds embraced their inner Danny and Sandy.
“As the evening concluded, Prince William and Kate had a delightful surprise planned,” wrote Robert Jobson in his new biography, “Catherine, the Princess of Wales,” as reported by People magazine.

“They stood hand in hand on the dance floor, beaming, when suddenly the opening notes of ‘You’re the One That I Want’ from the musical ‘Grease’ filled the air,” Jobson recounted. “William and Catherine then started dancing around, pointing at one another and mouthing the lines as if they were the lead characters, Danny and Sandy.
“It was a show-stopping moment.”
According to Jobson’s writing, 1,900 guests attended the wedding ceremony, but only a selected few were invited to the receptions that followed. The celebration hosted by Queen Elizabeth II had 650 guests, while the former Prince Charles’s gathering welcomed 300 guests. Jobson also mentioned that there was a live band featuring Ellie Goulding, a favorite of the couple.

The singer performed Elton John’s “Your Song” for the couple’s first dance, followed by her popular tracks “Starry Eyed” and a rendition of “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers, favorites of the couple.
“I was incredibly nervous,” Goulding admitted. “My hands were trembling.”
Since their initial meeting as students at the University of St Andrews in the fall of 2001, the Prince and Princess of Wales have journeyed a long way.

“Within the student circles, their relationship was an open secret,” Jobson wrote, as relayed by People.
Jobson noted that they attended classes together, shopped at local markets, and spent cozy nights at home listening to music.

The budding relationship “remained secretly hidden,” Jobson noted, until “a revealing moment transpired during a dinner party attended by Carly Massy-Birch,” a former girlfriend of William.

Jobson explains that attendees at the party engaged in a game of “Never Have I Ever,” where participants confess various experiences.
“Unintentionally, Carly revealed William’s secret romance with Catherine, much to the prince’s dismay,” Jobson stated.
However, there were no hard feelings. People magazine reported that the couple had several exes at their wedding.

William’s first love, Arabella Musgrave, along with Jecca Craig, Olivia Hunt, and Massy-Birch, received invitations to the wedding. Kate’s former partners, Rupert Finch and William Marks, were also invited.
In an engagement interview in 2010, William shared how he and Kate ended up living together as roommates.
“We began living together as friends,” William remarked. “We shared a home with a few others, and it just blossomed from there. We spent more time together, hanging out, and doing things.”
