A woman from Texas is standing by her husband’s choice to shoot and kill three pit bulls after the dogs attacked her livestock and killed several of her animals.
Michelle Gomez, residing in Caldwell County, expressed to FOX 7 Austin that she feels “enough is enough” due to the recurrent livestock assaults and fatalities caused by her neighbor’s numerous pit bulls.

This past Friday morning, her neighbor’s pit bulls either jumped over or dug beneath her fence and viciously attacked her pig, seizing it by the ears. Fortunately, the pig survived the attack.
Over the last two and a half years, three chickens and a miniature horse met a much grimmer fate, having been killed by her neighbor’s pit bull dogs prior to the Friday incident.

Gomez shared with FOX 7 Austin that she is “afraid for [her] life.”
“The police have always informed me that I have the right to shoot and kill the dogs. I don’t want to kill dogs. I love animals. They shouldn’t have to die by a bullet,” Gomez remarked.

In the last 30 months, over 45 service calls have been made to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office concerning animal cruelty, stray dogs, and animals running loose.
The dogs’ owner had previously received two citations regarding nuisance animals, paid the fines, and attended required court dates.

“A citation isn’t sufficient. They need to remove the dogs to resolve this,” Gomez asserted.
The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office stated to FOX 7 Austin that they have “adhered to Texas state laws and have pursued this matter to the best of their ability, as the current situation between the neighbors stands, and will continue to uphold state law in these types of situations to prevent any further casualties of pets and livestock in our County.”

Gomez intends to file a lawsuit against her neighbor and Caldwell County following the experiences she and her animals have endured.
