- Palmer connected with hip hop icon Snoop Dogg in Paris
- The Australian clinched Olympic gold in the men’s skateboarding final
Australian skateboarder Keegan Palmer shared an unforgettable Olympic experience with Snoop Dogg in Paris, humorously noting that the renowned rapper may not be his biggest fan since he isn’t on Team USA.
At just 21, Palmer has already claimed dual Olympic champion status, dominating the men’s final in Paris to successfully defend the gold medal he earned in Tokyo three years prior.
Palmer’s impressive score of 93.11 at La Concorde was unmatched, leaving the competition trailing.
The Gold Coast native was thrilled to skate before the legendary Tony Hawk, a figure celebrated as one of the sport’s all-time greats.
‘It’s an incredible feeling, man, to be able to say I’m a two-time Olympian, and even more, a two-time Olympic gold medallist,’ Palmer expressed.
‘It’s such a surreal feeling… I can hardly process it.’
‘Meeting Snoop was fantastic… he even threw down a little dance on the deck—though since I’m not repping America, I guess he might not be too fond of me.’
The modest Palmer remarked that he felt ‘fortunate’ that events unfolded in his favor in Paris.

Snoop Dogg and American skateboarder Tony Hawk were among numerous celebrities witnessing Keegan Palmer’s consecutive gold victories.
A humble Palmer stated in an interview that he felt ‘lucky’ with how events unfolded in Paris.
‘I’m at a loss for words… I caught a break with some competitors falling off during their last runs, but I was ready if needed,’ he shared with Channel Nine.
‘I can’t wrap my head around it, I’m overjoyed. I [told myself on my final run] let’s do it, Australia.’
Palmer mentioned that fellow Gold Coast athlete Arisa Trew inspired him, who took gold in the women’s skateboarding event.
Her win made her the youngest Australian Olympic gold medallist in history, breaking a record held by Sandra Morgan for 68 years.
‘We are essentially the king and queen of the skatepark right now, both hailing from the same hometown,’ Palmer said. ‘The Gold Coast is killing it right now.’
Palmer received accolades from Hawk, who was ‘very impressed’ by the Australian’s ability to maintain composure under pressure.
‘Two Olympic titles by 21… It’s remarkable, considering many skaters peak in their 30s, so Keegan has a bright future ahead of him,’ Hawk remarked.
