Kate Winslet has opened up about the special gifts she and Leonardo DiCaprio exchanged, along with the heartfelt story behind them.
In a recent interview for the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK, released on August 8th, Winslet reflected on her bond with DiCaprio and how their friendship deepened while working on the 2008 film “Revolutionary Road.”
The actress shared with the publication that during the filming, she had a dream where she gifted DiCaprio an engraved paperweight that read “Wherever you go, I will go too,” to which he responded by giving her a ring inscribed with the same phrase.
“I recounted the dream to him, and it brought him to tears,” she revealed. “Let’s just say he was very touched. By the end of the shoot, we had both delivered those gifts to one another.”

Winslet and DiCaprio first met while filming the 1997 blockbuster “Titanic,” where they portrayed the iconic lovers Rose and Jack. They reunited a decade later for “Revolutionary Road,” playing a married couple navigating life in the 1950s.
Their friendship has flourished since “Titanic,” with Winslet expressing to Harper’s Bazaar, “I’ve known Leo longer than any of my children and my husband!”
Since the release of “Titanic,” Winslet, 48, and DiCaprio, 49, skyrocketed to international fame, with the film receiving an Academy Award for “Best Picture” and Winslet earning a “Best Actress” nomination. The intense media attention was something Winslet struggled with, revealing that she often climbed over her backyard fence to dine with a neighbor to dodge paparazzi, admitting it took a toll on her health.
“I faced significant bullying in the media during that period, and it did affect me,” she reflected. “Consider all those years in my twenties when I experienced various body shapes and sizes.”

Nowadays, the “Mare of Easttown” star has embraced her body fully. In her latest role, Winslet portrays Lee Miller, a model-turned-war correspondent who reported on events like the Normandy invasion and the tragedies at concentration camps during World War II.
She disclosed that she ceased exercising for this role and told crew members who suggested she hide her “belly rolls” that she was intentionally showcasing them.
“I believe people have learned not to say, ‘You might want to do something about those wrinkles,'” she stated. “With each passing year, I’m more at ease with myself. It allows me to let go of others’ opinions.”
The actress has previously addressed her decision to continue doing nude scenes despite the body shaming she encountered earlier in her career, emphasizing that she has built a thicker skin.

In a September 2023 interview with Vogue, the “The Reader” star expressed her joy in knowing that young actors today are not subjected to the same pressure to maintain thinness for the camera.
“Young actresses today – incredible – they are fearless. It fills me with pride,” she remarked to Vogue. “And I think, all the struggles, all the years of using my voice, often facing backlash and being mocked – I don’t care! It was all more than worth it. The culture is shifting in ways I could never have imagined in my twenties.”
