Months after Francis Ford Coppola faced allegations of inappropriate conduct on the set of his upcoming film “Megalopolis,” new footage has emerged showing the “Godfather” director seemingly kissing several women during filming.
Videos obtained by Variety depict the 85-year-old director embracing and kissing various extras while shooting a nightclub scene for the sci-fi film.
As reported by the outlet, the scene was filmed on February 14, 2023, at the Tabernacle, a performance venue in Atlanta. The call sheet indicated that the actresses portraying female party goers had been “cleared for topless nudity,” while others involved in the scene were “cleared for scantily clad.”
‘GODFATHER’ DIRECTOR FACES ‘OLD SCHOOL’ ACCUSATIONS ON NEW FILM SET

Francis Ford Coppola was captured hugging and kissing various extras while shooting a scene for his film, “Megalopolis.”
A source informed Variety that after several takes, Coppola addressed the crowd via microphone, stating, “Sorry if I come up to you and kiss you. Just know it’s solely for my pleasure.”
The report revealed that no one attempted to intervene or express concerns publicly.
“Because Coppola financed [the film], there was no HR department to monitor behavior,” a source mentioned. “Who were they supposed to approach? Complain to Coppola and report him to himself?”
A representative for Coppola did not provide an immediate response to Fox News Digital’s inquiry for comment.

Multiple sources indicated that Coppola could be regarded as “old school,” allegedly recruiting women to sit on his lap. Concerning the kissing and hugging, sources conveyed to The Guardian that Coppola was “trying to get them in the mood.”
In a statement to The Guardian, “Megalopolis” executive co-producer Darren Demetre remarked, “I have known and collaborated with Francis and his family for over 35 years. As one of the initial assistant directors and an executive producer on his new epic, ‘Megalopolis,’ I played a role in overseeing and advising the production while managing the second unit. Francis successfully produced and directed an extensive independent film, making challenging decisions to ensure it was delivered punctually and within budget while adhering to his creative vision.”

“There were two days when we filmed a lively Studio 54-style club scene where Francis mingled on set to evoke the spirit of the scene by giving affectionate hugs and kisses on the cheek to both cast members and background performers. It was his approach to inspire and set the atmosphere for the club, which was crucial to the film. I was unaware of any reports of harassment or inappropriate behavior throughout the project’s duration,” he added.
Recently, Coppola was featured in a profile by The New York Times, during which he was questioned about The Guardian’s report.
“I’m not touchy-feely,” Coppola stated to the outlet. “I’m too shy.”
“Megalopolis” marks Coppola’s first film in 13 years and his 23rd in total. He invested $120 million of his personal finances on this ambitious project and has devoted decades to its development.
