Detransitioner Chloe Cole responded to an LA Times article that questioned her “motivations” for discussing her detransitioning journey, suggesting that her advocacy might contribute to the “death” of transgender youth.
“This article is absurd,” Cole commented on X last week. “They strongly imply that by sharing my personal experience, it will literally endanger children. This is the same type of rhetoric that almost harmed President Trump. I already feel unsafe every time I speak publicly, so thanks for escalating the situation, LA Times.”
The article titled, “How California teen Chloe Cole emerged as a leader of the ‘detransition’ movement — and a right-wing icon,” portrays Cole’s efforts to educate the public about gender treatments and surgeries negatively, an initiative that started after her own transitioning experience as a minor.
It accused Cole, who had a double mastectomy at 15, of attempting to “erase transgender children” by expressing her regrets regarding her transition and advocating for a prohibition on the medical treatments and sex change procedures “she once underwent.”
The article also references critics suggesting that the 19-year-old’s detransition movement could lead to increased suicide rates within the transgender community.
“She described her movement — which others worry could inflict harm and even lead to the death of transgender children — as ‘beautiful’ and ‘about love,” the piece quotes Cole during a recent event in Sacramento.

“Prominent medical organizations condemn the policies endorsed by Cole, and LGBTQ+ advocates caution that figures like her pose a threat to already vulnerable youth,” the Times article continues. “They fear that the heightened visibility of her narrative is part of a coordinated conservative effort to marginalize LGBTQ+ young people, whose access to necessary care is essential for their well-being, especially considering the elevated suicide rates among transgender individuals.”

The article adds, “While most critics of Cole acknowledge her personal account, unlike her tendency to dismiss the experiences of countless transgender youth, they raise questions about her intentions as her profile grows.”
The LA Times cites Dr. Marci Bowers, president of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), who indicated that gender-related medical intervention “is appropriate for the ‘vast majority’ of patients, and doctors must adhere to ‘careful and precise’ standards. Surgical intervention for minors is rare and only for severe cases,” she stated.
“Gender diversity is a human condition that has always been present and deserves access to healthcare — and that access can be lifesaving,” Dr. Bowers, an OBGYN who has conducted “thousands” of sex-change surgeries, told the LA Times.
The article also mentions Cole’s recent endorsement of former President Trump and notes that she does not “believe in the concept of a trans kid or that transgenderism is an innate identity.”

“It’s just an action. … It comes from various stressors and other life factors,” she is quoted as saying.
The article further discusses Cole’s lawsuit against a nationwide medical group and its practitioners whom she accuses of conducting a “mutilating, mimicry sex change experiment” on her.
MUSK SAYS TRANS CHILD WAS FIGURATIVELY ‘KILLED’ BY THE ‘WOKE MIND VIRUS,’ VOWS TO DESTROY IT: ‘MY SON IS DEAD’
“She has transformed her transition process — which she once regarded as a sign of supportive parents, uncommon for LGBTQ+ youth — into a cautionary tale fraught with nightmares,” the Times article states.
After her initial reaction to the article on X, Cole shared in a follow-up post, “This only strengthens my conviction and determination. Nothing on this earth will stop me from speaking out against the mutilation of our children.”
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, who recently commented on his own child’s transition experience, responded to Cole’s post, stating, “WPATH is a criminal organization.”
“Absolutely,” Cole replied. “Butchering and sterilizing children not only for profit but also out of misguided passion.”
The Los Angeles Times informed Fox News Digital that their “reporting on this topic speaks for itself, and we encourage readers to assess the story directly.”
Both Cole and WPATH did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comments.

Cole informed Congress last year that she had been diagnosed with gender dysphoria and was expedited onto puberty blockers and testosterone, with her first injection occurring at age 13.
During that time, she faced numerous mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, pubertal issues, learning disabilities, symptoms on the autism spectrum, and concerns regarding potential sexual abuse, compounded by her ongoing confusion about gender identity. However, instead of receiving “cross-sex hormones and mutilating surgery,” what she “needed was love, care, attention, and consistent psychotherapy,” her lawsuit claims.

She has indicated that the treatment was presented to her and her parents as the sole option for suicide prevention, despite her not experiencing suicidal thoughts at the time.
Since then, she has detransitioned and has become an outspoken critic of transgender care for minors.
